Preservation is expensive.

Given the competitive market and high growth of Lancaster County, the costs of acquiring open land for preservation are understandably high. But this is just one category of costs incurred by The Conservancy in pursuit of its goals. Other costs include:

  • Acquisition of land and easements
  • Stewardship of protected property
  • Conservation easement management and enforcement
  • Negotiations
  • Preparation of development alternatives
  • Title searches
  • Conservancy administration
