The Conservancy serves as our region’s leading land trust organization protecting valuable natural areas for public use and recreation primarily in Lancaster and York Counties. We show our commitment to the public by maintaining an accreditation certification through the Pennsylvania Land Trust Association. Since 2005, the Conservancy has met its accreditation requirements, strengthening the organization’s policies and procedures to ensure the long-term protection and stewardship of more than 6,000 acres of lands held in preserves and through conservation easements.
Examples of meeting accreditation standards and practices include:
- Land Protection Program: Our Land Protection Committee follows due diligence standards and practices to guide the selection and recommendation of high value parcels for land acquisition.
- Development Program: Board and staff members receive gift acknowledgement training to manage restricted gifts and to ensure accurate accounting practices.
- Stewardship Program: As new properties are acquired, staff develop management plans that guide stewardship practices and recognize critical natural resources, such as species of concern or the need for habitat restoration in high quality watersheds.
The Conservancy is proud to maintain our accreditation status with the Pennsylvania Land Trust Association to demonstrate to our ongoing commitment to our supporters, conservation partners, and our community that we serve in the best interest of the public. We graciously thank you for being part of our continued success!
