What is the Conestoga Clean Up?
Since the first Lancaster Water Week in 2017, the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, LCSWMA, and multiple partners have gathered at different locations along the Conestoga River to remove trash from the water and along the banks. From 2017-2019 over 10.5 tons of debris have been cleaned up! Plastic bottles and bags, a shopping cart, so so many tires, and even an ill-fated ATM machine have been plucked from the water thanks to the efforts of hundreds of volunteers.

Take part in the 2020 Conestoga(+) Clean Up during Lancaster Water Week, August 7-15! With safety top of mind in 2020 and our regular large volunteer group gatherings on pause, we’re encouraging individuals to take action on their own to protect clean water! What’s the “plus” in Conestoga(+) Clean Up you ask? While we love the Conestoga River, there are many cricks and creeks in our county that need some love and a lot less litter! Whether you pick up trash along a local stream or in your favorite park or preserve, you are helping to keep trash from polluting our waterways. To participate, just fill out the survey for each clean up you complete during Lancaster Water Week!Clean Up Survey
