Join Ryan Davis, Pennsylvania Forest Program Manager at the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, to learn the fundamentals of tree identification. You’ll learn how to “read” a tree, easy ways to narrow down the species you’re looking at, and how to use identification keys and guides, so that you can figure out the identity of any tree on your own.

About the Presenter

Ryan Davis manages the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay’s Forests Program out of their PA office in Lancaster. He holds a B.S. in Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology and minor in Forestry from North Carolina State University and an M.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology from West Virginia University. He spent the first half of his career in the field, traveling the country to chase critters, and the latter half creating habitat in Pennsylvania. Ryan now specializes in education and outreach on stewardship, helping landowners meet their habitat management goals on working lands, and reforestation of agricultural and developed land.

How to Participate

Registration is required. Attendees will receive an e-mail with a link to access the presentation via Zoom the day of the event. Conservancy staff will be on hand starting at 5:50pm prior to each lecture to answer your questions and help you familiarize yourself with how Zoom works.
