Join Ryan Davis, Senior Forests Projects Manager at the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, to learn how to identify trees in the winter months, a skill that will be helpful year-round. The workshop will entail lessons in morphology, natural history, and how to use identification keys. It will be entirely outdoors, so dress appropriately!

Your Presenter

Ryan Davis was born less than a mile from the Susquehanna River in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and grew up mostly on the coastal plain of Virginia and North Carolina. He earned a B.S. in Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology with a minor in Forestry at North Carolina State University and attended West Virginia University for an M.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology. He has worked as a field biologist in North Carolina, Nevada, Missouri, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Ryan joined the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay in April 2017. He is the Senior Forests Projects Manager, where he focuses on reforestation, forest management, and education within the watershed in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New York.

This event will include a short, easy to moderate walk. It will run rain or shine, with cancellations for severe inclement weather being made 24 hours in advance. Restrooms are available onsite.

What to Bring

The class will be outside, so please dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. Bring any required water or snacks.
